WHAT HAPPENS AT A SERVICE?

Sunday morning services start at 10:30am, and evening services at 7:00pm. As you arrive you'll be personally welcomed, given a programme sheet and shown towards a seat. If you've got any questions, the people 'on the door' will usually be able to answer them. As you sit down, you will notice a real mixture of ages and types of people around you. Some are smartly dressed but others more casual, so whatever you are wearing you should feel comfortable. Cranleigh Baptist Church Programme Sheet

We try to make the service itself varied and interesting, since we want it to be enjoyable for people of all ages and backgrounds. There are formal and informal elements to it. It's lively without being wild, weird or over the top! You can always find out where we are in the service and what's next by looking at the running order inside your programme sheet.

We love to sing and praise God in a way that is contemporary but also reverent. Our music is drawn largely from traditional hymns and the best of the new modern songs as well as songs for the children. The singing is led by a music group. It is not a professional orchestra of international standing, but a loose ensemble of willing musicians and singers! A variety of instruments are played, including - depending on the week - piano, guitars, cello, flute, violins, and drums (among others). The whole point of our meeting is to help us to get to know God better, so that we can appreciate him more and discover more about how he wants us to live. So as well as setting aside time for prayer, we'll always take some time to listen to what the Bible says, and what it means to live as a Christian in the modern world. The talk (around 20 to 25 minutes) aims to be engaging, relevant & based on the Bible. We always take some time to listen to what the Bible says

CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE

Up to 100 children and young people join us each Sunday and we see them as an integral part of our community. Babies, children and young teenagers (0-14) leave the morning service part of the way through and have their own programme in age-specific groups. These groups are led by trained, police-checked children's workers who are clearly identified by their badges. If you have children with you, there will be people in the foyer to help you find the right place for them. The older teenagers (14-18) have their own meeting after the evening service on the church premises.

AFTER THE SERVICE
The morning service finishes around 11.45am and the evening service around 8pm. There's time afterwards for coffee, chat and the chance to make new friends before you head home. If you'd like to find out more about the church, look for the 'Welcome' Desk in the foyer after the morning service - somebody should be able to help you there. Mmm, coffee! (or you can have tea)
