I spent all my childhood in Cranleigh and became a
committed Christian whilst a pupil a Glebelands School. Following this,
I became involved with Cranleigh Baptist Church where I attended the Youth
Group and Girl Covenanter class and where I was baptised.
After completing a biological sciences degree at Warwick
University and spending 3 years in science research in Glasgow, I returned
to Cranleigh in 1982, somewhat disillusioned with the world of academic
research. I retrained in administration and worked for 4 years at the
University of Surrey in Guildford. In 1986, I spent a 3 week holiday in
Mexico visiting some Wycliffe missionaries (Kitty and Leslie Pride) and
returned home with a new vision for overseas mission work. This eventually
led me to Redcliffe College in 1988, where I spent 2 years as a student
and then joined the staff in 1990.
The years since 1990 at Redcliffe College have been
extremely fulfilling, being part of an international and interdenominational
Christian community involved in training men, women and families for cross
cultural mission work in today's world. For most of that time my main
role has been in running the College's placement programme but from September
2004 this changed to being responsible for Admissions.
After being single for many years, I married Colin
in October 2003, who had been a lecturer at the College since 1998. Previously,
Colin had taught at Northumbria College in Berwick-on-Tweed and also,
for 9 years, at the Theological College of Northern Nigeria in Jos, Nigeria.
Colin and I are both involved in a multicultural Anglican
church in Gloucester (St. James) and in our spare time we enjoy walking
in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside.
